FLINT — For years, the North End Women’s Life Center housed in the former St. Luke School relied on 21 chest freezers to store food to be given away mainly to inner-city single women and their children.
Now, thanks to donations totaling more than $35,000 and a thousand hours of donated service, the center has a new walk-in freezer and accompanying cooler to preserve food and make distribution easier for volunteers.

SAGINAW — The ordination Friday, May 18, of Thomas R. Held and Alberto E. Vargas Posada took Bishop Joseph R. Cistone back, to his own priestly ordination.
More to the point, to the prostration during the singing of the Litany of the Saints.
The bishop asked the two soon-to-be-priests to consider three things as they lay on the carpet at St. Mary Cathedral during the afternoon rite. (more…)
Pinckney St. Mary School hosts presentation on teen drug use and prevention

PINCKNEY — Parents of St. Mary School students were asked to face an unwelcome possibility on Wednesday, May 16.
Their children may be experimenting with drugs.
In a presentation sponsored at the school, Lt. Tom Cremonte of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Dept. told the parents about teen drug use, how to spot signs of abuse and what to do about it. (more…)

HAMBURG — After concelebrating Mass on Saturday, May 5, in honor of the 10th anniversary of Holy Spirit School, Bishop Earl Boyea shot off rockets with students and their families.
Bishop Boyea launched a model rocket with Fr. John Rocus, pastor of the parish, then congratulated parents and students for the success of the school.
